In order to operate our program at Holy Family we require continued parental volunteerism and a small payment of fees ($25). The Holy Family athletic program is run entirely by volunteers. Only through strong volunteerism are we able to maintain a minimal cost structure (e.g. league fees) to run our program. We look for parents to volunteer their time to help with:

  • Door and Concession Stand duty (all parents are expected to participate, and a schedule is provided once home games are known for each sport)
  • Serve as Coaches (head and assistants)
  • Serve on Sports Committees to help organize each program (e.g. Volleyball, Basketball, Concession Stand, Spaghetti Dinner, Tournaments, Gym supervisors, Little Dribblers, etc.)
  • Serve on the Athletic Board
It of course depends upon the sport and the league.  Practice schedules are often determined based upon gym availability, coach availability and then player availability.  Many teams have been successful with players only able to make one of two practices a week.  Playing time may be adjusted accordingly.

Game schedules are often finalized a week or so before the first game.  Tournament schedules also can be finalized or changed if teams opt in or out of the tournament in the final week.  Please be as flexible as possible with coaches and Athletic members.

At different grades and different levels of play, playing time rules may vary.  For example, in 8th grade, every team member will likely not play the same amount.  Please attend the parent orientation meeting at the beginning of every sport season led by the coach of the team.  The approach will be discussed and decided upon in that meeting.
Usually the greater the amount a team member participates in the sport, the higher the likelihood the player will receive playing time.  Please attend the parent meeting and talk with the coach to confirm expectations and schedules.
All Holy Family students and all Holy Family Religious Education students/parishioners (boys and girls) in grades 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th in good academic standing are eligible to play. Specific eligibility guidelines are provided in the Family Handbook.
